I always hate it when a summer comes to an end. I'm sure they get shorter and shorter each year. I came across this clip (Beruit - Poscards from Italy) on another blog site, We are handsome who produce smoking hot female swimwear. It makes me smile every time I watch it, but also sad at the same time as another summer comes to a close. O well - I guess that means it's the beginning of summer someplace else...

Recently it struck me how crucial it is to have a good book with you on holiday. A bad book can really impact your holiday experience. Unfortunately on this holiday (to Bali) I lucked out because my book was a dud - just couldn't get into it. I kept persisting but eventually had to give up halfway through (I hate that!)

Luckily everything else about the holiday was a huge success.

Busy would be an understatement. I think it means that summer has finally arrived!

A big warm thank you to everyone who has purchased and supported Toggs this year in 2009. The response has been quite overwhelming. Some Togglers will be pleased to know that we are in the process of planning our Summer range for next year 2010 - there will be crazier prints, larger sizes and more FLAMINGO for those who have missed out!

Henry Bucks is without a doubt the best gentlemen's store in Australia and each year they put out an annual Christmas book full of great gift suggestions that can be gift wrapped and delivered straight to your Christmas tree. This years book has quite a sense of humor (which is nice after a tough year). We couldn't resist the 'Boob squeeze juicer' and had to buy one early for a friends birthday. Every man should have one!

There is a new store in Byron Bay...

..and it's called 11:11 O'Clock! (@ 3/20 Fletcher Street).

It just opened this week and it's the home of Toggs in Byron Bay.

11:11 offers an alternative to the abundance of surf/street labels you tend to find in coastal towns and stocks slightly more high end and stylish labels for the beach/holiday goer in the know! Labels include, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Karen Walker Eyewear, Something Else, Zimmerman, and TOGGS!

We hope to visit later this year to check it out in person - it looks great. And just what Byron needs.

It seems that a lot of women buy our Toggs. (Thank you)

Not for themselves, but for their partners updating their choice in swimwear. After all, they do make a great gift!

However time and time again we get asked these questions:

From guys - 'Will my girlfriend/wife look hot in my Toggs?'

From girls - 'Can I wear my boyfriends/husbands Toggs?'

Well, with summer approaching it's about time we addressed such questions, and it's simple.

Toggs are made specifically for guys with mens body shapes in mind...BUT why should girls miss out on all the fun?! After all there's sometimes nothing cuter than your girl steeling one of your shirts to get around the house in when she's stuck for something to wear. Why not your Toggs?

(Girls - if you're going to buy some Toggs for the beach this summer then our advice to you is this - to go a size smaller (if possible) than you usually would. It will ensure they sit better and they'll be more flattering.)

WINKLE gets Dads!

WINKLE is one of the coolest home/gift/lifestyle stores in town and is located in Armstrong Street Middle Park (VIC) not far from what we call 'a beach'.

It always amazes me for such a small space, just how much cool and interesting stuff WINKLE have in the store (and on the side walk) without the store itself looking over crowded or crammed.

This week Toggs is proud to have a window display in the lead up to Father's Day in one of our favorite stores.

Check this out: A water park in the UK has banned male guests from wearing budgie smugglers!

Although the thought of a water park on its own is enough to freak many people out (a bacteria breading ground need I say more), the thought of marinating in overcrowded water with strangers and only a thin piece of nylon separating our UK cousins from other peeps is terrifying. Lets go on the water slide!?

Here at Toggs we feel that somewhere between a revealing budgie smuggler and a baggy boardshort is the answer. Enough length not to scare the children, enough freedom to relax and have fun, plus enough support for your safety.

When Toggs sees a man over the age of 21 wearing a pair of board shorts, we think it tends to look a little ridiculous. Once you graduate from school or college you need to move on. On the other hand, briefs or budgie smugglers should be banned.

To qualify they must be:

1. Not funny

2. Become less funny via consistent repetition

3. Be highly inappropriate and/or embarrassing

I'm convinced there must be a secret dad school some place where dads go to learn this stuff!? Most people I've spoken with have been exposed to this torture at some point in time and it appears to be a very Australian thing..passing bad dad jokes down from one generation to the next.

Fathers day

Toggs realizes that Fathers Day is just around the corner (September 6) and that Dads can be really difficult to buy for. This got me thinking about how in some areas dads really just need to be shown the way ... and swimwear is usually one such area.

After all, dads are busy people. They don't have time to think about such matters and usually end up making do. Your dad might be stuck in the 80's, embarrassing you by wearing a budgie smuggler, or perhaps still wearing board-shorts just to hang onto his youth.

As a loving family member it's our duty to help. Don't let this happen to your dad.

This is another pic from our unforgettable trip to Italy last July. If you find yourself going to the Cinque Terre you must stay in Monterosso where this shot was taken. It's a small town big on charm and makes you feel as if you're on holiday in the Italian riviera during the 60's. Check out the kids playing cards on their towels.

This is Pepe. Pepe has possibly the best job in the world.

Pepe is in charge of the pool at the Hotel Luna Convento in Amalfi. I guess you could call him the 'Pool Guy'.

We are sending Pepe over some Flamingo Toggs with relatives who are lucky enough to be staying at Hotel Luna in July....I hope he wears them!?

Look at how perfectly the deck-chairs are lined up behind him to face the sun. It brings a tear to my eye - particularly because its freezing here and I know we wont be over that side of the world this year.

Hotel Luna Convento is our favourite place to stay in the world!!!
